10/8-10/13: Science Court- Living, Dead, and Non Living

CLASS OVERVIEW: The past two classes have been spent learning the difference between something that is living, dead, or non living.

  • PART 1: Is the chicken bone dead? 
    • ACTIVITY: After watching part one, students were given cards of various things and were asked to separate them into categories of LIVING, DEAD, and NONLIVING.  This went into their science journal when completed.  After hearing the verdict, students answered the question, “Is the chicken bone dead?” on the flip side of the chart. (See journal product descriptor.)
  • PART2: Are the eggs dead? 
    • QUESTIONS and JOURNAL:
      • Students answer questions along with the viewing of PART 2: Are the eggs dead?
      • There is also a journal piece to PART 2, as well. (See journal rubric.)
  • PART 3: Is the wallet dead?
    • QUESTIONS and JOURNAL:
      • Students answer questions along with the viewing of PART 3: Questions for Part3
      • There is also a journal piece to PART 3, as well. (See journal rubric.)
  • OTHER MATERIALS

FINAL ASSIGNMENT– Students complete journal entry on pages 18 and 19 of science notebook.
