Earth as a System Mapping Project

SUMMARY:

interactionsFor the past week we have been working on a little project where students, in a group, have been gathering information based on an EVENT and mapping out (using Inspiration software) how this EVENT connects to each of EARTH’S SPHERES, the hydrosphere, the litho/geosphere, the atmosphere, and the biosphere.  After connecting the EVENT to the four SPHERES they then connect each of the spheres to one another in relation to their event. Our model has been the YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK FIRES of 1988 found at this website-  http://www.cotf.edu/ete/ess/essmain.html and the graphic displayed on this entry.  Simply, they’ve become EARTH SYSTEM SCIENTISTS.

Although working in groups, students are creating their own maps and will have until the end of this week to double check their set-ups, information, and connections.

MONDAY WILL BE THE LAST DAY WE WORK ON THIS IN CLASS.
