Food Web Input and Output

I’m adding a few things to help some people finish up their FOOD WEB input and output pages.

FOOD WEB INPUT

There are three things that you need to do:

  1. Draw/diagram your web in your journal on the INPUT side.
  2. What do you notice about your web and the organisms in it?
    1. Write a heading, “Web Observations”.
    2. Make a bulleted list of three observations.
  3. How is your web similar or different that other webs created?
    1. Write a heading, “Web Comparisons”.
    2. Make three observations and write them in a bulleted list.
    3. You can use the webs below if you need some to compare to.

FOOD WEB OUTPUT: You have two questions to answer on this page

1: What might happen if one species is removed from the web?

Remove a specific species, name it, and list three possibilities that could occur if it suddenly was wiped out.

Things to think about in answering this question:

    1. Remember, an adaptation is a change over a period of time and not likely to occur in a current generation.
    2. Think of each bag that each group as an ecosystem. So, basically, what would happen if you removed that particular species from that ecosystem?
    3. Be sure to explain WHY something would happen.
    4. Heading: Species Removal
    5. Sample start to your answer: If the _________ was suddenly removed from this ecosystem, these three things might happen:

2. You all used the same organisms to create your webs? Why aren’t the food webs all the same?

Things to think about in answering this question:

    1. Connect your answer to ecosystems and think of each bag as a separate ecosystem.
    2. Think of each bag that each group as an ecosystem. So, basically, what would happen if you removed that particular species from that ecosystem?
    3. Be sure to explain WHY something would happen.
    4. HEADING: Food Webs
    5. Sample way to start your answer: Even though we all had organisms in the same ecosystem, our food chains and webs may have been different because….
